And Baby Makes... 4!
After many weeks of what seemed like endless pregnancy and a few more of what feel like endless sleepless nights, diaper changes, feedings, baths and did I mention diaper changes? I'm back into the "grind" and ready to get rolling again in the world of the Work @ Home Mom. Over the last weeks, I've had at least one idea for a blog per day, so pen to paper, here I go.
First, we welcomed baby Sabrina Dylan on October 24th after a short and uneventful labor and delivery. Five weeks later, she's a wonderful baby who likes to eat, sleep and poop. Not much different from my first baby. However, there are MAJOR differences that are apparent in having a second child. Some are in our favor, others, not so much. Here is a short list of my observations:
- First baby - gets picked up at first squeal. Second baby - if we let her be just a minute more, she just might fall back to sleep.
- First baby - gets fed every 3 hours like clockwork. Second baby - oh, one more hour won't hurt her.
- First baby - gets bathed, changed and groomed every morning, then put into a cute little something or other so she's perfect for the 200 or so pictures that will be taken of her today. Second baby - last night's pj's are perfectly clean enough to get her through until we have time to bathe her. Oh and pictures? We'll do our best to get some new ones...
- First baby - ALL our friends clamored to visit her before she was a week old. Second baby - can you say ONE visitor outside of family in FIVE weeks? Good thing we have a sense of humor.
- First baby - aaah, nothing like the peaceful serenity of maternity leave. Quiet naps on the sofa with baby, long coo sessions while bouncing on mama's knees. Second baby - Long feeding sessions spent in front of the computer followed by peaceful sessions bouncing in the bouncy seat/swinging in the baby swing.
- First baby - "I'll take the package with 300 thank-you notes please." Second baby - "Any way to get fewer than 10?"
So you see, while the basics of having baby #2 don't differ much from previous babies, it is the world around baby #2 that seems to welcome her, well, differently. In any case, we think she's just as sweet and special as the Original...
