Recently I was walking a tradeshow floor looking at all the new (yawn) stuff for the upcoming season. The truth is, after three shows inside of two months, I was getting a little bored with seeing the same products, some labeled with a different name, but essentially touting the same "must-have" recommendations. And then I actually DID come across a new and inventive product, that not only is completely unique, but could potentially be life-altering, as all the others only claim to be.
Introducing Baby MedBasics - the essential what-to-do guide during infant emergencies. I know, we all remember so much from the infant CPR class we took before giving birth, when we had about 400 other things on our minds. MedBasics puts at your fingertips the tools you need to give your infant the care he or she needs during an emergency, while help is on the way. The study, bound guide offers step-by-step instructions to a variety of emergencies, including CPR, Choking, Fever, Bleeding, Burns, and Poison. Color-coded and clearly tabbed, each section features very simple, easy-to-read instructions that could save a child's life.
It's great for the babysitter and Grandparents too - since accidents can happen anytime. Tara and Luke, inventors of MedBasics, learned this quickly when their infant began choking one day. Fortunately, because of her training as a nurse and his training as an emergency room doctor, this family knew how to react in order to save their son. And they though it would be a good idea to arm other parents with these tools should they ever be in this, or a similarly terrifying situation. The result - Baby MedBasics. The instructions in the guide are geared toward babies birth to 1, but many can be applied to older children as well.
With a more comprehensive home pack and an on-the-go travel pack to choose from (or a combo of both), these people really did think of everything. It's literally the product that might save a life - and one worth giving to everyone you love.
Since we love you readers, we are giving away one Baby MedBasics guide. Simply leave a comment telling us either why this would come in handy in your house and/or a story of a time when this might have come in handy. Also tell us which color is your fave. A winner will be chosen on Wednesday, November 5th. Open only to US residents.

This winter, I'm going to become an unofficial auntie to four new babies. (All of my friends are starting families at once!) And I want to make sure that my new home is a safe, inviting one for them to feel comfortable in - and for me to babysit in!

I really like the red because it stands out , but it only looks like it comes in the travel version. I like the pink in the home version. You never know when something will happen, it is best to be prepared and at least know where /how to look things up if need be.

I like the red one, because red is always associated with emergencies, and it would be easy to locate in an emergency. I am the daily baby sitter for my sister's two kids and I'm always terrified that if something went wrong while she was away that I wouldn't have the instinct or knowledge to do what's right.

Wow - this is amazing. Thanks for giving us the heads up, this should be a must for any household. I use to work as a waitress and one night two young couples came in with a small child. They were chatting when the baby start choking on food, the mom didn't know what to do. She stood up and started screaming for help while standing there helpless.
We had all been trained the helmich maneuver for adults and children. So I rushed over and was able to get the object out of his airway - the piercing scream brough tears of joy to the parents. I think it's important to know how to save someones life because you never know when you may need to use it.
I would love it in pink.

AGH, I NEED this! I am due to have my first baby in a few weeks and I feel so unprepared for what might happen. This book would be a great guide to help me not freak out quite as much and will save me countless calls and trips to the ER for no reason. Since I am having a girl, I would have to pick the pink one!

My story is very similar to Tarah the Waitress's story...except I WAS the mom in the synario! Like Jill said in the post, I took the baby class in the hospital and everything, but when it came down to it, I froze and forgot everything I was taught. Thankfully my husband remembered what to do and saved our son from choking in a restaurant, but what if he hadn't been there?! This would have been perfect for me! And still would be! I love the red one... :)

I'd have loved to have this book for when my son was an infant. He crawled over to the holiday decorations box and decided to chew on the cardboard. I came back just as he was about to put the tinsel in his mouth. It was so scary at the time as I had no idea if he'd poisoned himself, what I was supposed to do, whom to call (it was a weekend, as it always is when these things happen!). This book would have come in real handy!
